Low-Power Pressure Sensing with I2C for Remote Water Monitoring
In remote monitoring applications, sensor performance and battery life are critical. One of our clients faced challenges with an analog pressure sensor that consumed too much power, the need of conversion to digital signals to match their data logger, and accuracy loss. Our customised MRB23 Low-Cost Pressure Transmitter for OEM Applications with I2C provided a low-power, high-accuracy solution for seamless integration with their data logger.
Problem:
- Sensor used in remote application draws too much current, shortening battery life and increasing operation costs
- Client’s data logger supports digital input, but existing sensor outputs analog data
- Converting analog to digital introduces accuracy loss
Challenges:
- Ensuring precise, repeatable pressure measurement under field and lab conditions
- Extending sensor battery life
- Reduce accuracy loss caused by analog-to-digital conversion
Solution:

MRB23 with I2C
- Delivers high-accuracy, real-time pressure measurements
- Eliminates the need for analog-to-digital conversion
- Sensor circuit redesigned to lower power consumption to just 10 µA
Key Advantages:
- Simple integration with I2C-enabled data loggers
- Accurate and repeatable measurement data for both lab and field use
- Longer battery life due to reduced power consumption
- Cost effective
